Production of Light Cranes and Chain Hoists
In Marienheide-Rodt, everything revolves around our light cranes. Jib cranes and chain hoists are manufactured and assembled here, and overhead conveyor systems are put together.
Overview of the location
All the overhead conveyor systems are assembled, light gantry cranes and jib cranes are built and chain hoists are manufactured according to the one-piece flow principle on a production area of over 10,000 m². In addition to the production of our light cranes and chain hoists, the Marienheide-Rodt site also houses a service workshop. The site was originally built in 1989 as a logistics centre and production site for jib cranes and suspension monorail systems. Now, all light cranes and our chain hoists are manufactured here.
Production of Light Cranes and Chain Hoists
The production of our light cranes and chain hoists is divided into various steps. Incoming goods inspections are carried out for all parts of jib cranes, suspension monorails, light gantry cranes and chain hoists.
Jib crane profiles and pillars are blasted and welded in the steel construction shop, and suspension monorail systems are picked in the same buildings. The cranes are painted and the monorail systems are wrapped in the paint shop. Once all the components have been successfully assembled, the cranes are picked. This is where small parts and assemblies are put together and picked for orders. These order components are then carefully packed. The cranes and hoists are then shipped, and containers are loaded for overseas shipments. Just as in the overhead travelling crane sector, the production process for light cranes has been optimised. High production speeds and an optimised material flow have one goal: to produce and deliver the crane on time.
In Marienheide, however, our production not only focuses on the manufacture and dispatch of light cranes, but also on the production of our electric chain hoists. Since 2018, we have switched from batch size assembly to efficient one-piece flow assembly in order to reduce stock levels and shorten throughput times. Thanks to LEAN principles and a clear division of tasks, we optimise the production flow and minimise errors. The entire chain hoist assembly process takes place at the Marienheide plant at various stations with a cycle time of five minutes. Our digital system monitors every production step and ensures seamless quality control. Ergonomic workstations and lean management tools provide an efficient working environment. New bolting technology is used to precisely record and document the torque, thereby eliminating deviations.
